YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio
Youngstown State is virtually eliminating its out-of-state tuition surcharge for students from eight counties in western Pennsylvania.
The school announced Thursday that the out-of-state surcharge will be reduced from $2,692 per academic year to $200 per year. The standard tuition is $6,921 per year.
The tuition break will be available to residents of Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, Mercer and Venango counties. The school currently has about 650 students from those eight Pennsylvania counties.
The reduction goes into effect next fall.
