CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- The State Fire Marshall along with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and Scioto Township Fire Department is requesting help from the public about several fires in mobile homes in Chillicothe. All of the fires have been ruled as arson and go back as far as 2005.
The homes are all repossessed homes and are brought to a lot where they are essentially packed in close together. The most recent fires, that damaged nine mobile homes, occurred in the early morning hours on December 27, 2008 at Three Locks Road and U.S. 23 causing over $120,000 in damage. Five mobile homes in December of 2005 were damaged as well. Investigators are looking for any information that citizens may have no matter how insignificant they think the tip may be.
There is up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible for the fires. Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers is also offering an additional $2,000 reward for the information leading to an arrest or conviction.
