Delaware Nursing Home Part Of Salmonella Probe

»  Comments | Post a Comment

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Health says two containers of peanut butter taken from a central Ohio nursing home have tested positive for salmonella.

The department says it's not clear yet whether the salmonella found in the King Nut peanut butter containers is the same strain that is linked to a nationwide outbreak tied to peanut butter products.

So far, 72 cases of salmonella poisoning have been reported in Ohio.

The health department said Thursday that the contaminated containers had been collected from a long-term care facility in Delaware County, north of Columbus. One of the state's 72 salmonella cases was reported there.

More than 400 kinds of cakes, cookies and other goods have been pulled off the shelves as a result of the outbreak.

A Georgia peanut processing plant is at the center of the investigation.
