McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio -- A cash-strapped Ohio county will become at least the third to close most offices on Fridays to save money.
Monday's decision by commissioners in southeast Ohio's Morgan County covers all departments except for the sheriff's and engineer's offices and the county Department of Job and Family Services. The Friday closings begin next week and will continue through the rest of the year, putting about 17 employees on a four-day work week.
Commissioner Dean Cain says the move should save about $47,000 and help balance the county's $3.1 million general-fund budget.
Eastern Ohio's Guernsey County and Morrow County in north-central Ohio are already shutting down most offices on Fridays as they struggle with similar budget gaps.
