COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 7-year-old child was injured seriously when CPD said she stepped out in front of a vehicle Monday night.

CPD was called to Joyce and 25th avenues, on the city's North Side, close to 9:34 p.m. Monday on reports of a pedestrian struck and a dispute.
Police first thought it the incident was a hit-and-run, but said the driver did indeed stop.
Apparently, the driver stopped but a crowd of people at the scene started to rush the man. He felt threatened and left the scene.
He called the police after he left the area to report the accident.
The girl suffered serious abrasions to her head and a broken leg.
She was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition but with nonlife-threatening injuries.
CPD said the driver would not be charged.
NBC 4 first reported the incident as a hit-skip per police.
