COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State University says it has no plans to raise tuition for undergraduate Ohio residents this fall despite a new state budget plan that allows increases.
President E. Gordon Gee said in a statement Tuesday that access to higher education is more important now than ever. He said a combination of state aid, health care and energy cost savings, along with enrollment growth, will allow Ohio State to keep tuition for state residents at $8,406 for the third straight year. Ohio State is the largest public university in the nation, with 6,550 students expected to enroll this fall.
State lawmakers lifted a statewide tuition freeze on public colleges and universities Monday as part of the $50.5 billion, two-year operating budget. Gov. Ted Strickland is expected to sign it Tuesday.
