CENTRAL OHIO -- Congregations around Central Ohio continue to keep an eye out for the man dubbed "the church thief."
Officials in pockets of Licking and Fairfield counties believe the man has bounced from town to town, walking into churches during events or services and stealing purses or handbags.
Authorities say the man has used stolen credit cards at stores in the state.
Both Pickerington and Granville churches have been victims of the crimes.
In Granville, even with active security measures in place at the Springs Hills Baptist Church, the suspect walked in and walked out without detection.
"Who would target churches? Who would do that? It's devastating," said Heidi Carroll, of Pickerington.
Last year, NBC 4 reported on a rash of church break-ins in Newark. Police closed in and arrested a suspect in that case.
Now authorities are looking for a white male in his 20's or 30's, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall with tattoos on his arms and legs.
Anyone with information is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
