CLEVELAND -- The NASA Glenn Research Center near Cleveland Hopkins airport plans to shut down its visitors center and offer the exhibits to the city's downtown science museum.
NASA Glenn Director Woodrow Whitlow Jr. said Wednesday that reasons for the closing coming this fall include a tight budget and a desire to give the NASA facility a higher profile. The Great
Lakes Science Center draws more visitors than NASA Glenn.
Shifting priorities in the space agency's budget meant NASA Glenn had to slice at least $250,000 from its public affairs program.
The NASA Glenn visitors center has been popular for school field trips and youth groups partly because it's free. The science center charges admission.
