COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Young people from Columbus, Upper Arlington and Violet Township are taking part in a unique one-week academy that gives them hands-on firefighting and EMS skills.
Students learn to make fire runs, load patients onto back boards and rescue mannequins from smoke filled fire towers.
Five or six former students have gone back to Hocking College for certification. Some current students came from as far away as New Jersey to attend this year's academy.
The program has been held at Hocking College for the past six years. Graduation is scheduled for Saturday.
