Strickland Denies Keene Clemency

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. Ted Strickland says he will not show mercy to a man scheduled to be executed in Ohio on Tuesday for his part in the killings of five people in Dayton in 1992.

Strickland said Thursday he agrees with the unanimous recommendation by the Ohio Parole Board that Marvallous Keene not be granted clemency. Keene did not
request it.

The 36-year-old was convicted of aggravated murder for what became known as the "Christmas Killings" because they occurred over a three-day span during the 1992 holidays.

Among those killed were an 18-year-old mother gunned down at a pay phone, a store clerk shot in the face after handing over $30 from the cash register, and a 16-year-old girl yanked from a car
and shot at a gravel pit.
