COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An armed robbery suspect was taken into police custody after a brief pursuit early Tuesday.

The incident started around 3:30 a.m. at 15th Avenue and Pearl Alley, in the campus area, when an armed man robbed two females who were walking in the area, CPD said.
The suspect jumped into a vehicle and took off after the alleged crime, police said.
Within minutes, CPD ground patrols and its chopper spotted the suspect and watched as he ditched the vehicle to flee on foot.
When the suspect ran down a dead-end street, the chopper relayed his whereabouts to patrolling officers. The suspect was found in some bushes, and officers took him into custody.
The two female victims are shaken but OK, police said.
Tuesday's armed robbery occurred near OSU campus and NBC 4 has learned there have been others reported recently.
Campus police have released crime alerts for three separate robberies within the past eight days. Two of the crimes were at gunpoint, authorities said.
It remained unclear currently whether the suspect in Tuesday's alleged crime was responsible for other recent robberies.
