SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE -- An eastern Tennessee man has waived extradition and will be returned to Ohio to face charges in a 1985 homicide. Walter Zimbeck appeared in a Sevierville courtroom Tuesday on a fugitive warrant. The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the 42-year-old Zimbeck was arrested Monday night at his home in Kodak, about 20 miles east of Knoxville.
The newspaper reported he formerly lived in Maumee in northwestern Ohio, near where the body of 14-year-old Lori Ann Hill of Swanton was found in October 1985. Her nearly-nude body was discovered in woods by deer hunters four days after she was last seen. A medical examiner said she was beaten to death. Zimbeck faces Ohio charges of aggravated murder and murder. He has no local arrest record.
