COLUMBUS, Ohio
Ohio lawmakers are hoping a little extra money will convince college graduates to stay and buy a house in the Buckeye State.
Ohio's new state budget includes a program that will reward college graduates who stick around.
The program offers home buyers cash grants that would be second mortgages and disappear if the graduate stays in the state for five years.
Participants are likely to receive lower interest rates on their first mortgages along with having the second mortgage forgiven.
The program does include a cap on how much graduates can earn at their jobs and still qualify for the incentives. That amount varies by county.
It's not known how much the program will cost the state.
