Ohio Officer's Murder Conviction Upheld

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CANTON, Ohio -- A state appeals court has upheld an Ohio police officer's conviction in the deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn daughter. Attorneys for Bobby Cutts Jr. had claimed errors were made during last year's trial of the Canton patrolman. But in a 2-1 ruling, the 5th District Court of Appeals in Canton said Wednesday that Cutts' conviction on charges of murder and aggravated murder was supported by the evidence.

Defense lawyer Carolyn Kaye Ranke says Cutts will appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court. Thirty-two-year-old Cutts is serving a life sentence in the killings of Jessie Davis and the baby she was carrying. Before her body was found, Davis' disappearance in the summer of 2007 prompted a massive search that drew national attention.
