CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Students in Chillicothe schools will no longer be able to earn a zero on assignments.
The Chillicothe City School Board had been debating whether to make a 50 percent the lowest grade a student could earn, and the proposal passed in this week's board meeting.
Mt. Logan Elementary school will be the pilot school to start the policy.
Supporters say giving graders lower than a 50 percent discourages students.
They say this new policy will bring a grade of F in line with the 10-point differences between other grades.
Opponents say it gives students credit they didn't earn.
