Ohio Marine's Manner Of Death Ruled Homicide

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CANTON, Ohio -- Military records show that an Ohio Marine had an impromptu wrestling session with a sailor and struck her head on concrete the day before she died last year in Iraq.

The cause of death for 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Stacy Dryden of North Canton is listed as blunt-force trauma to the head. The manner of death was ruled a homicide, but the investigation revealed no evidence of foul play and no charges were filed.

Dryden's mother, Thea Dryden, said in a statement Thursday the family agrees that there was not malicious intent and that no charges should be brought against the sailor.

The (Canton) Repository requested a copy of the investigation, including witness statements. The Pentagon previously stated that Dryden had died in a non-hostile incident.
