COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A group of criminals are terrorizing a Central Ohio neighborhood, breaking into homes and stealing items while the family sleeps.
Natalie Ross said she remains traumatized after she found a burglar in her home on Bella Via Avenue during the early morning hours of July 22.
She caught an unidentified intruder while checking on her infant son who was crying in the next room.
Ross' husband chased the man out of the house through the garage, where they believe he gained entry.
"I am one of those people. I don't forget to shut my garage. I knew in my head that the garage was shut before I went to bed," Ross said.
The burglar stole Ross' purse, several cell phones, an Xbox with games and her husband's wedding ring.
No physical harm was made to any of Ross' four children -- ages 9, 6, 2 and 10-months.
"I think any type of robbery has got to be scary, but to be at home and to know that your life and your children's life is at risk is the sickest feeling that anyone can imagine," Ross said.
Ross said Columbus police told her that a series of similar break-in has occurred in the area. Then, Sunday night, Ross' neighbor's home was invaded with the perpetrator raiding the master bedroom while the couple slept.
The Ross' installed a security system and outdoor motion detectors that trigger flood lights.
They said they hope police catch the person or persons responsible before someone gets hurt.
