UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio -- It's a story about courage and unity.
In March, Upper Arlington Senior Blake Haxton lost both legs after contracting a rare, flesh eating bacteria. Since that horrific day, the community has rallied around him.
In May, there was a walk-a-thon to raise money and awareness of necrotizing fasciitis.
Monday, in their ongoing support of Blake, friends, students, parents, teachers hosted a blood drive in his name. The blood drive was scheduled until 7 p.m. at the UA high school cafeteria.
The Red Cross says because of accidents and other issues, there is now less than a half day supply of four blood types: "O" negative, "A" negative, "B" negative and "AB" positive.
You can walk-in or make an appointment by calling 800-448-3543.
