ASHVILLE, Ohio -- A hardware store was burglarized overnight, and authorities said an undetermined number of firearms were stolen.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Ashville Hardware at 286 Long St. was burglarized overnight Tuesday, and Ashville officers and Ohio' Bureau Of Criminal Identification & Investigation continued to investigate.
One or more suspects used a concrete block to smash through the front glass and then smashed the handgun case.
Firearms were on the floor when authorities were called to the scene close to 1 a.m.
An inventory check was being completed to determine the correct amount of stolen firearms.
Ammunition was not stolen.
“It's very concerning cause you don't know who might have the handguns -- what they might be used for. Or if they are out on the streets. Kids could get a hold of them. It's a very big concern for us,” Ashville detective Jeffrey George said.
Authorities said the hardware store also was burglarized about a year ago, and firearms were taken during that crime, too.
Detectives continued to investigate and were reviewing surveillance video from area businesses.
