COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A pedestrian was fatally struck Thursday morning, and CPD continued to investigate the crash.

A person was struck and killed at East 5th and St. Clair avenues on the city’s near North Side, CPD said.
The incident happened at about 7:15 a.m.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
CPD said the pedestrian was crossing East 5th Avenue, just east of Peters Avenue, when he was struck in the roadway by a westbound vehicle.
CPD was called to the scene and restricted southbound St. Clair Avenue traffic to Peters Avenue. East 5th Avenue westbound and eastbound traffic also was closed between St. Clair and Lexington avenues during the investigation.
CPD Sgt. Rich Weiner accident-scene investigation crews had not determined who was at fault.
CPD later confirmed the pedestrian was a 45-year-old black male, but his name wasn't being released pending notification of next of kin.
No more immediate information was available.
