COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 14-year-old has died after a near-drowning Sunday evening.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Ahmed Coroma was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he remained in critical condition until his death Wednesday night.
Franklin County Coroner Dr. Jan Gorniak said the cause of death was “complications from a near-drowning.”
Some teens noticed Ahmed was submerged in the water at The Gaslight Village apartment complex’s pool. The boy wasn't moving.
Two teens jumped into the water to pull out the boy, and a third attempted CPR while others called 911.
Emergency crews arrived at the Maize Road complex, on the city's North Side, at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
Medics from the closest fire station arrived and said the teen was in arrest: he was not breathing and didn’t have a pulse.
The apartment complex’s pool had passed its health-department inspection.
There are no requirements for lifeguards at the complex pool and there were none at the pool that night, according to Columbus Public Health.
