Open Sites Feed Kids For Free

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For most kids, school is out in a week or two and that means instead of getting a free breakfast and lunch for those who qualify, some will be looking for three meals.

But there is help available.

The Mid-Ohio Foodbank can tell you where there are soup kitchens and food pantries.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks sponsors a food service program with 140 open sites, it's federally funded.

Open sites are for children under the age of 18 and they can go to any open site and eat for free.

Open sites include St. Stephens Community House on 17th Avenue and Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on East Main Street.

When it comes to open sites times differ so your best bet is to call 645-3642. The city food program runs from June 10 to August 21.
