PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Pickerington Local Schools would see a 2 percent increase in state funding over the next two years if state senators get their way.

That's because Pickerington is a fast-growing district.

Districts not designated as fast-growing would see a quarter-percent increase in 2010 and a half-percent increase in 2011.

Two percent may not sound like a lot but it's worth about $3 million in state funding.

Parents at Pickerington Elementary School said they hope the senate's version of the state budget passes so the district can maintain the high standards that attracted them to the district in the first place.
