COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man is facing felonious assault charges after allegedly stabbing a woman.

Police were called to the 500 block of Stinchcomb Drive shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday on a report that a woman had been stabbed, NBC 4 reported.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.

She was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition, where she underwent surgery.

The suspect, 34-year-old Wael Kalash, was apprehended by police a short time later in the 500 block of Riverview Drive.

Kalash was positively identified by witnesses.

Officials said there is no known motive for the attack, which they said appears to have been random.

Police said the suspect has a history of strange behavior, according to neighbors.
