COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Child Development Council of Franklin County is offering free financial literacy classes.
The classes will be held at the CDC’s Capital Park Head Start, 2150 Agler Rd.
Huntington Bank staff will teach the classes.
Low-income residents can learn the ins and outs of banking and how important it is to save.
DD Parker normally is a Huntington branch manager on Cleveland Avenue.
She teaches “Banking 101” on Tuesdays and Thursdays and says it feels good to give back to the community.
Parker shows participants how to avoid fees and scams.
Janice and Eddie Ford moved to Columbus from Chicago and needed guidance to buy a house here.
The CDC assisted with paperwork and explained the home-buying process.
Some participants have children in CDC's Head Start program, but the classes and programs are open to the public.
Residents also can learn about loan modification, get their GED, take ESL classes and more.
