GROVE CITY, Ohio -- Funding from private source is helping South-Western City Schools levy.
According to Community Relations Officer Don Walters, the Community Investment Corporation decided Friday morning that it would allocate $25,000 to the South-Western City Schools levy campaign. Walters says the money will not be public taxpayer dollars because the CIC is a privately funded, not-for-profit organization.
The CIC raises money from buying and selling property, land, and buildings.
The levy campaign must use the money only to articulate the facts about the economic impact of the levy on Grove City. It is not allowed to advocate for a yes or no vote.
Walters says city council is still considering using taxpayer dollars for educational materials regarding the economic impact of a failed levy.
The city would spend $10,000 to $20,000 from its advertising budget.
City council members say a decision will not be made on this outside of city council meetings. The next scheduled meeting is on June 15.
