COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Five masked gunmen attacked a hotel clerk after police said the clerk couldn't meet all of their demands.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn Express at 4041 S. Hamilton Rd. on the city’s Southeast Side.
Five masked gunmen jumped the hotel-service counter, demanding cash and the clerk open the safe, according to CPD.
The clerk was beaten and knocked unconscious when he couldn’t comply with all of the suspects’ demands, CPD said.
The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash and some of the clerk's property, according to a police report.
The suspects might have been scared off when a hotel guest walked down the hall, police said.
The hotel clerk was transported to a local hospital.
The suspects remained on the loose.
