CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two Cleveland brothers have pleaded guilty in the fatal beating of a neighbor over what investigators say was a $50 debt.
The victim, 25-year-old John Maruschak was beaten with an aluminum baseball bat last summer.
His body was burned in Ashtabula County and the remains stuffed into garbage bags.
The brothers, 26-year-old Alex Wulff and 19-year-old Aaron Wulff, pleaded guilty Monday in Cleveland.
The brothers claimed the victim had broken into their house, but prosecutors believe the $50 debt was the motive.
Alex Wulff admitted burning the body and pleaded guilty to murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.
He faces up to 21 years to life in prison. His brother pleaded guilty to attempted murder and could get 10 years.
