COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Have you planned your route around the state Route 315 summer construction project?

NBC 4 has the FAST FACTS on how you can make your S.R. 315 orange barrel game plan.

The Ohio Department of Transportation or ODOT planned to start construction Monday, June 15. That's when lanes will reduce and switch and entrances and exits will begin to close.

ODOT officials urged motorists to be prepared with a plan for the construction, the commute and delays.

ODOT said the project was scheduled to be completed within 120 days.

The project will cost $24 million over two years to repair bridges and improve the pavement for a stretch of three miles

CONSTRUCTION BREAKDOWN
Northbound traffic will shift to what are now S.R. 315’s southbound lanes.

Two northbound and southbound lanes will remain open. That’s down from three lanes in each direction.

Eight entrance ramps and two exit ramps will close during the four-month construction project in 2009.

Heavily used on-ramps on Olentangy River Road, North Broadway, Ackerman Road, Lane Avenue, King Avenue and Goodale Boulevard all will close.

Between Henderson Road and Interstate 670, drivers getting on state Route 315 will have one option for heading northbound: Ackerman Road. And only one option for heading southbound: Goodale Boulevard.

And of the three exit ramps serving drivers coming up from the south, only Lane Avenue will stay open. The northbound Ackerman Road and Medical Center Drive exit ramps both will close.
Westbound Interstate 670 traffic still will be able to merge on S.R. 315.

Drivers will be able to exit on Lane Avenue from either direction but will not be able to enter S.R. 315 at Lane Avenue in either direction.

These exit ramps are set to close:
S. R. 315 NB – King Avenue exit/Medical Center Drive
S. R. 315 NB – Ackerman exit

These entrance ramps are set to close:
S. R. 315 SB – Olentangy River Road (near North Broadway)
S. R. 315 SB – North Broadway from West North Broadway
S. R. 315 SB – Ackerman Road
S. R. 315 SB – Lane Avenue
S. R. 315 SB – 12th Street (from OSU Medical Center)
S. R. 315 SB – Goodale Boulevard (across from White Castle)
S. R. 315 SB – Olentangy River Road (Lennox Town Center)
S. R. 315 SB – Lane Avenue

It remained unclear which ramps will close first.

With a project this big on a freeway as popular as S.R. 315, construction will cause headaches. A commuting plan will be imperative.

“Most likely, the fastest route to campus would be Olentangy River Road, which I figure everyone is going to be doing. So …,” resident Kim McDonald said.

“They're gonna pay more money. That's not right for them. It's gonna kill our gas. Already it's $2.87, $2.85 for regular gas,” cab driver Karl Band said.
