COLUMBUS, Ohio – Just like any piece of furniture or electronics in your home, your computer can pose a serious threat to your child’s safety. Nationwide Children’s Hospital completed a first of its kind study looking at 100 hospitals across the country and found that 9,300 kids are hurt each year in computer-equipment accidents.

NBC 4 gives you the FAST FACTS.
According to the study, the injuries involved computers falling on kids or children tripping over computer cords.

Kids under the age of 5 were found to be hurt most by computer related accidents.

Over a 13 year period the injuries rose 732 percent.

Here are some tips to prevent injuries from happening:
• Place your computer up against the wall on a sturdy surface.
• Organize cords and get them out of the way.
• Only allow children to use the computer when an adult is around.
