MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- A local teacher who is accused of burning a cross on a student's arm during a science experiment is now suing the school board and administrators.
John Freshwater was suspended without pay after allegations of professional misconduct last spring, and an independent firm found he allegedly caused physical harm to a student.
Freshwater said the school board also wants to fire him for keeping a Bible on his desk.
The lawsuit cites free speech and equal protection violations.
