COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The CEO of the Columbus Jewish Federation says she is saddened by Wednesday's shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
She says the shooting should be a reminder of how important it is to teach and practice tolerance.
The Columbus Jewish Federation is dedicated to teaching the community about tolerance and awareness. The group was alerted about the shooting Wednesday afternoon by the Columbus Department of Homeland Security and was advised to step-up security. This means making sure doors are locked at local organizations and watching out for suspicious activity.
A Columbus Police lieutenant said there is the possibility of copycats although they don't think any incidents are likely.
However, Columbus police will increase patrols around local Jewish organizations as a precaution.
The Department of Homeland Security says they take similar measures with notification and protection whenever any group face a possible threat.
