LEWIS CENTER, Ohio -- A woman who was sought as a possible witness to the abandonment of a newborn boy this week has been identified.
The male newborn was found alone in the bushes between the Meijer and KinderCare Learning Center on U.S. Route 23 or North High Street shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Delaware County sheriff’s office.
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office wanted to speak with a woman who was seen shopping in the Goodwill Store on Columbus Pike on Tuesday afternoon, around the time the baby was discovered.
"She did exactly the right thing. The woman's family recognized her picture when they saw it in the newspaper. She immediately called our office," said Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis III.
Investigators determined that the woman did not have information about the case and is in no way connected to the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Delaware County sheriff's office at 740-833-2800.
