College Grad Takes First Job As Mayor

GLENVILLE, W.Va. -- Tashua Allman only graduated from Glenville State College last month, but she's already made her presence felt in the wider world.

The 21-year-old Parkersburg native was elected mayor of Glenville as a write-in candidate, beating a former occupant of the office by a single vote.

Allman may be the youngest female mayor in the state's history, a fact she says makes her proud.

The Gilmer County office comes with a $12,000-per-year salary and a term of two years.

Allman first got a taste of running for office as student body president at Glenville State.
