BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- It should go without saying -- wear underwear and deodorant when you go to work.
But, one Florida town is making it official, adding the obvious to the dress code.
But, not everyone is happy about it.
Brooksville, Fla. is known for its moss-hanging oak trees, its quiet country charm and now, some say, a city council that's gone too far.
"I just think its stupid Brooksville is getting so anal they're telling people what they can and can't wear," said Allen Branch, a Brooksville resident.
What city employees don't wear is making as much news as what they do wear. A new dress code addresses both.
In her 13 years as a city employee, Linda Sidor said she never noticed a problem.
"I've never seen anyone any employee dress inappropriately, really, I don't know where that came from," Sidor said.
The new dress code calls for employees to use some protection -- the deodorant kind -- and hide those bra straps. But first, make sure the underwear is on. That applies to women and men.
Showing your midsection may be fashionable, but not at work.
Tattoos are seen as art by some, but city workers will have to cover up.
"We do deal with the public on a regular basis. We try to look professional," said John Emerson, Hernando County Chief Dep. Property Appraiser
The city council voted 4-1 in favor of the updated dress code.
The city's mayor said dress hasn't been a problem for city employees, but officials just wanted to update its policy and procedures.
