Recycle Your Hazardous Waste Saturday

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Saturday is your chance to clean out your garage and ditch some unwanted items.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

SWACO holds a household hazardous waste (HHW) mobile collection from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday June 20.

The mobile collection site is at SWACO’s Morse Road Transfer Stations at 4260 Morse Rd.

Franklin County residents can bring old gasoline, lighter fluid, thinners, pool chemicals, paint, fluorescent light bulbs, etc. to the site.

People can save time in line at the collection by drying out old latex paint. Once the water evaporates from latex paint, it is no longer considered hazardous and can be disposed of in the trash. Cat litter, sawdust and commercial hardening products all work to speed the drying of latex paints.

Residents can see a detailed list of accepted and nonaccepted items as well as a complete list of collection dates at http://www.swaco.org.

The next SWACO mobile collection is slated for Saturday, July 11, at the Jefferson Township Service Department, at 6620 Havens Corner Rd., New Albany.
