MARYSVILLE, Ohio-- A caller to the Union County sheriff's office Sunday night said he thought a plane had crashed at the airport and deputies and medics were on the way.
When authorities arrived, there was a plane on its top at the end of a runway, but the pilot was on his feet and mobile.
The extra units which had been dispatched in fear of multiple injuries and a fire were called back in while deputies talked to the pilot about the upside-down position of the plane.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. Sunday at the Union County Airport.
Robert E. Feicht, 49, of Dublin was attempting to land the plane on landing strip C when the plane veered off the left side of the airstrip, across a taxiway and into a grassy median. The plane struck a drainage culvert and overturned. The plane came to rest on its top in the grass median.
The right, front passenger, Diane E Feicht, 53, of Dublin was transported to Union County Memorial Hospital for minor, nonvisible injury.
The right, rear passenger, Kelsey J. Feicht 17, of Dublin was transported to the Union County Memorial Hospital also for minor, nonvisible injury.
The pilot and the left, rear passenger, Sydnee M. Feicht, 20, of Dublin both reported no injury.
The plane is owned by William C. Lint of Dublin. As a result of the crash, the plane received damage to the front landing gear, propeller, nose, wings and top.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified.
It was the second plane crash the Marysville post has handled in two days and the third for the year. A small plane slid off the runway at Grimes Air Field in Urbana Saturday and a crash occurred March 15 at the Bellefontaine Municipal Airport.
