COLUMBUS, Ohio -- New standards for development are in place.
Columbus city council approved commercial standards for neighborhoods across the city Monday night.
The plans are intended to beautify and create a more unified look in areas.
Residents in the Eastmoor area envision better lighting, more landscaping and attractive signage for Broad and Main streets.
Residents in the Milo Grogan area want to see new developments along Cleveland and Fifth avenues.
They believe buildings closer to the street, parking in and the back and sidewalks for pedestrian access will encourage new businesses and customers to check out the area.
Civic and neighborhood associations work with the Columbus Development Department for several years to develop the new plans for their areas.
If you'd like to see changes to your community's commercial standards call 614-645-7380.
