CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- It's county fair season and it could be a big year in many communities.
With a struggling economy, many are staying home and spending their money locally for their vacations.
The Pickaway County Fair is open for business in Circleville and many families are taking dollars and cents, saying it makes sense to stay close to home.
Some said they simply can't afford to take a family of four to Walt Disney World, so they opt for rides at their county fair.
Vendors said they could make good money with more fair-goers, but the only catch might be in counties where the unemployment rate is higher than the state's unemployment rate.
Vendors said they think the true effects of the economy will be felt the most.
The Pickaway County Fair director said that in the last few days before the fair began, he had several vendors try to sign up at the last minute.
