COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Absentee voting begins Tuesday for the Tuesday, Aug. 4, special election in Franklin County.
Eligible voters have the option of casting ballots by mail or in person at the Franklin County Board of Elections at 280 E. Broad St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Monday, Aug. 3, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1.
Voters may download absentee ballot applications from the board’s Web site at http://vote.franklincountyohio.gov or call the board at 614-462-3100 to request that a ballot be mailed to them.
Voted ballots must be returned to the board by 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Out-of-country military and civilian absentee ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Aug. 4, and are due by Friday, Aug.14.
The deadline to register for this election is Friday, July 6.
Voters who have changed their names or addresses since the last election should update their registration by then.
In all, 580 of 865 Franklin County precincts will be open for this election.
A proposed income tax increase for the city of Columbus will be on the ballot in 528 precincts.
An operating levy for South-Western City Schools will be voted on in 105 precincts.
Polls throughout the county will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
