COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police want you to be aware of a recent rash of car break-ins on the southwest side of Columbus.
According to police, there have been a total of 56 thefts from cars and 22 reports of malicious destruction since April 1.
The target area is bounded by Interstate 70 to West Broad Street and Hilliard-Rome Road to Alton Darby Creek.
The crimes happen during the overnight hours and residents in the area said they aren't surprised by the statistics.
"I walk around the apartment complexes and I constantly see cars that are broken into, broken glass everyday," said Randal Barber, an area resident.
Police say GPS units, CD players, medication, CD's, license plates, and cash have been stolen from the vehicles.
