COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man was arrested Monday after a bank robbery where the suspect demanded $10,000.
According to investigators, a man entered the Chase Bank on East Long Street at about 10:15 a.m., and, after asking for a deposit slip, returned to the counter, where he held up a note stating he was robbing the bank and wanted $10,000.
The teller told the man, "I don't have that!"
Officials said the man became nervous and thought the teller had pushed the alarm, so he turned and exited the bank without money.
The teller then alerted employees that the man had just tried to rob her and another employee and customer were able to obtain the license number of the vehicle the suspect had entered as a passenger and gave it to Columbus police.
The driver of the vehicle, police said, saw employees in the bank taking note of the license plate number and assumed the passenger had just tried to rob the bank.
The driver ordered the man out of the vehicle and then returned to the bank to tell police what happened and where he had dropped off the suspect.
Officers circulated the area where the suspect was left and apprehended the suspect, 31-year-old Matthew Holman, after a brief foot chase.
