COLUMBUS, Ohio
The Ohio House and Senate have approved competing plans to offer tax credits to attract the film industry.
The Democratic-controlled House approved a plan that has the support of Gov. Ted Strickland with a 83-14 vote on Tuesday.
Moviemakers who film in Ohio would get a 25 percent tax break, and the total amount of tax breaks awarded would be capped at $10 million a year for the next two years.
The Republican-controlled Senate approved a larger plan with a 20-11 vote. It would cap the amount of tax breaks the state could give the film industry at $100 million each year.
Either the House or Senate will have to approve the other chamber's bill, or the two chambers will have to work out a compromise.
