BRATENAHL, Ohio -- An independent investigator has concluded that a former suburban Cleveland police chief mishandled evidence and asked officers to help cover up the problem.
Bratenahl police Chief Paul Falzone resigned two weeks ago amid an investigation into missing weapons and drug evidence.
A former judge hired by the village reported Monday that Falzone managed his department poorly and failed to secure evidence.
Investigator Richard Lillie also says Falzone did political work from his office during his campaign for sheriff.
Falzone has said most discrepancies resulted from poor record-keeping that has been fixed.
Mayor John Licastro declined to comment after the report, except to say the findings were "disturbing."
