POWELL, Ohio -- A portion of U.S. Route 23 reopened after being closed for a fatal crash Thursday afternoon.

U.S. Route 23 southbound lanes were closed at state Route 750 or Powell Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The lanes reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., Mark E. Bundesen, 57, of Westerville was traveling eastbound on the Highbanks Metro Park access road near the intersection of U.S. 23. Bundesen was driving a 1999 Chrysler convertible. He attempted to turn left onto U.S. 23 when he was struck by a 2008 Peterbilt semi driven by Doug Burbaugh, 42, of Harpster, Ohio, according to OSP.
Two witnesses to the crash stated the commercial vehicle ran a red light at the intersection.
Bundesen was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Burbaugh was not injured.
Traffic was diverted around the area during the closure.
An investigation into the crash continued.
