Accused Twin: 'My Bloody Hand?'

Accused Twin: 'My Bloody Hand?'

INTERROGATION VIDEO: Watch as detectives tell Derris Lewis his bloody palm print was found at the scene of the crime.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A teen on trial for killing his twin strongly denied his involvement during a police interrogation.

It's a story NBC 4 has been following for more than a year, and NBC 4's Matt Alvarez reported from Franklin County Common Pleas Court Friday.

The interrogation lasted nearly 90 minutes, and Derris Lewis repeatedly denied involvement in the death of his twin brother, Dennis Lewis.

It was physical evidence detectives couldn't deny.

A bloody palm print matching Derris' prints was found inside the Lewis' Loretta Avenue home, the scene of Dennis' murder.

CPD Homicide Detective Jay Fulton testified about an interrogation with Derris before Derris knew he would be charged with his twin's fatal shooting.

Here's an excerpt from the interrogation tape. Watch more in the video player to the left.

Fulton: What would explain -- how could we explain -- one of your palm prints being in a crime scene?

Derris: My palm prints?

Fulton: Yeah.

Derris: It's crazy.

Fulton: Okay.

Derris: My palm print -- in blood?

The interrogation went on for almost 90 minutes, and Derris continued to deny involvement.

Fulton: They're telling me that this print is in blood. Your brother's blood. Your palm in blood. It wasn't there before the blood. It came there at the same time. Your bloody hand.

Derris: My bloody hand?

Fulton: You have to tell me how that happened.

Derris said it was impossible that it was his palm print -- that he wasn't in the house during the time of the murder. And if the print did match his, he said his and his family's prints are all over the house. He said he washed the walls at the home.

The prosecution rested its case Friday afternoon.

Derris' girlfriend, Kristian Halloway, was the first witness for the defense.

She said Derris was with her during the time of Dennis' murder and said Derris received a phone call from his sister.

"He sounded concerned, confused -- maybe he had a bad dream," Halloway said on the stand.

Next on the stand was a neighbor who said he saw three people running from the house around the time of the crime.

The defense will continue its case Monday.
