COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Authorities have few clues in a fatal shooting that started as an armed robbery. Police haven't given up hope and neither has the victim's mother.
NBC 4's Mike Jackson spoke to the mother who said she hoped someone will come forward and help solve her son's case.
Wali Garrett, 31, was shot at approximately 11 p.m. Sept. 11, 2008, during what investigators believe was a robbery on Garrett and another man.
The apparent robbery took place in front of 4630 Tamarack Blvd.
Garrett apparently fled the robbers on foot and was shot as he fled. Garrett continued to run but fell and died at the rear of 4662 Tamarack Blvd.
"Nobody disliked Wali. So, for somebody to just murder him for no reason in cold blood it just tore me apart -- still kind of tears me apart," mother Annie Garrett said.
Investigators said they believe Garrett might have been the victim of several suspects who have been involved in a number of robberies in the area of Tamarack Boulevard on the city's Northeast Side.
The only clue authorities have obtained is that possible suspects could be driving a light-green Dodge Intrepid four-door.
