Ohio Historical Society Lays Off Workers

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Historical Society says it will lay off 25 workers and reduce hours at some sites because of state budget cuts.

The agency said Monday that it will use private funds to help keep 18 state memorials and museums open through June 30.

But limited financial support will mean reduced hours at many of the sites, including the Adena Mansion & Gardens in Chillicothe, Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, the President Warren G. Harding Home in Marion and the Serpent Mound near Peebles.

Of the 25 workers laid off, 15 are at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus. The workers will receive a severance package.

The agency previously announced that it would temporarily close some historical sites from March 28 to April 3 because of budget cuts.
