WILLIAMSPORT, Ohio -- A Central Ohio schools superintendent is being called upon to resign because critics say his office computer was used to view pornographic Web sites.
Former Westfall school board president Larry Carfrey claims records show superintendent Randy Cotner's computer bypassed software filters to access at least 50 sexually oriented sites.
The school board met with Cotner on March 6 to discuss budget cuts and current board president Kevin Steward said Cotner admitted upon questioning to misusing his office computer to access porn and gambling Web sites
Carfrey demanded Cotner's resignation Monday during a packed school board meeting that also included debate over $1.5 million in budget cuts for the district south of Columbus.
Steward acknowledged that "inappropriate" computer use prompted a meeting with Cotner. Steward said officials would deal with the situation, but he did not elaborate, only saying that the board has been consulting with their attorney to decide on the best course of action.
Steward said Cotner no longer has full support of the board and that he informed the superintendent not to come to work, essentially putting him on administrative leave with pay.
Cotner says he made a mistake and has apologized.
