COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One side of the city has seen an increase in residential burglaries, according to Columbus police.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.
CPD said there have been 28 residential burglaries since Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, in its 100-cruiser district on the West Side.
The district is in the area bounded by Hall Road and Sullivant Avenue and Norton Road and Interstate 270.
CPD said the primary time for the burglaries has been between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., but there has been a spike in occurrences between 1 and 6 p.m.
Mondays through Thursdays have been the most active days, but the burglaries have happened every day of the week.
Entry has been gained into the residences by forcing a door or window open.
The losses during these burglaries consist of cash and electronic devices such as DVD players, game systems, computers, cellular telephones and other items.
CPD encouraged residents to pay attention to your surroundings and call 614-645-4545 to report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
Many burglaries are solved because someone took the time to call the police when something "just didn’t look right."
